Should vendors use their logos or business cards to solicit business at a wedding?
I just had a wedding where the band had their logo on stage and to my amaze, the valet parking company was giving the guests their business cards as they got out of the car. Don’t you think that It leaves a poor taste?
Dear Poor Taste:
I agree with you that it leaves a poor taste and reflects badly on the vendor. I recently saw a florist, placing their business cards at the bottom of each place setting, that made me feel mortified.
I think, it’s unprofessional to give away your business cards like this or use of Logo at a wedding that you worked on as a vendor. These couples hire us and pay each one of the vendors to do a job as promised; there is no way we should allow ourselves to use any of our client’s wedding as a promotional platform.
In my views, our work or designs in itself should be enough to promote and help expand our business. Believe me, if the flowers were amazing at the wedding, then the guests would be raving about them all evening and most likely would ask as who did it. That is true for everything else, including catering, DJ, etc.
In my opinion, it is disgusting and those vendors who have been practicing such pathetic behavior for years must think twice before continuing it on a regular basis.
What do you all think?
