One of the statements I made in my previous blogs was that, People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.” As we move into the holidays with all of the wonderful (and sometimes stressful) interactions with both loved ones and strangers, I thought it might be nice to reiterate this sentiment.
It’s imperative that we understand how important it is to take the time to let those around us know that we care about them, first and foremost, instead of simply sharing our opinions, thoughts and feelings freely, and without concern for the person we are sharing them with. Self expression is important, especially for us creative types, but it is equally important to realize where our individual rights end and the rights of others begin. As we interact with our family, friends, colleagues and even people on the street, let us keep the generous, gracious, empathic spirit of the season at the forefront of our minds. We have nothing to lose and so very much to gain.
With a Happy Heart (and a wish for a beautiful Christmas Eve and Christmas)
