It’s my opinion:
Venues should not say NO to same-sex marriages.
Last week I had an interesting and unusual situation, which made me proud of being in the Event Industry. I was supposed to travel at the beginning of Nov, to give a speech in Houston. It appears that the company that invited me to speak have booked one of the most beautiful venues in Houston.
This particular venue that I would prefer to remain unknown, is known for refusing the legal rights of gays to have the ceremony in their gorgeous facilities, they only allow gay receptions. The company that invited me to speak was not aware of the discriminatory policy of this venue when they first booked them.
However, the moment they found that the venue does not allow gay ceremonies, at a high expense to them, they canceled the conference at this venue and moved my speech to another day at the newer venue.
Today I’ll like to thank and congratulate FLEUROLOGY for taking this very brave stand. After all as a happily married man, regardless of their reasons, I would have refused to give a speech at a venue that does not honor my legal rights.
Should venues, have the right to refuse gay ceremonies at their properties?
