It’s my opinion:
That new talent should be given a break.
I recently spoke to a very well known planner; that insisted that she only work with two florists. Of course, my first question to her was, “Do these florists pay you a commission?”
She got very insulted and said, “Of course not.” I only work with them, because they know what I like and they never disappoint me, or my clients.
At first, I was touched by her loyalty, but then after giving it careful thought, I asked myself a very basic question. If all the planners in this world refused to try new or different vendors, then how could they possibly know what they are missing?
Shouldn’t planners be open in giving new talent a break? I think it’s no wonder that most of the floral designs and events are beginning to look the same.
It’s my opinion that at one point in life, someone gave us all a break. We should be open to encourage and embrace new talent, regardless of our comfort level.
