Dear Preston:

I am considering having a tented wedding but my mother is against it, stating that it will look barren, regardless of the tablescapes. What do you think?

Dear Tentative:

I respect your mother’s concern but will say that, with the right design, tents can be almost totally transformed. I personally love to design these spaces, and fortunately for brides such as yourself, there are a number of ways to do it. Draping the walls with fabric can create an unexpected and dramatic atmosphere and we have used enlarged images that have been printed to change the venue. When I started out, we didn’t have the technology we have today but you do so use it to your advantage! Consider using projectors to create a more architectural environment for guests and don’t diminish the impact a change of lighting can have. The key is to always to transport guests to an alternate reality, whatever the venue.
