I have found the wonderful flower holder that I thought would make a perfect giveaway and wanted to share it with all of you. The wonderful part about this giveaway is that it also served as a fun decoration for each individual place setting. My client and I both loved it!
That said, when you really think about it, this memento, while useful at a wedding, offers no practical use for guests once they get home. I am old enough to remember the days when couples sent guests home with delicious slices of wedding cake. For me, that was a win-win. A day later, I was able to enjoy my slice of cake and relive every wonderful moment of the wedding.
Of course, I understand the sentiments behind giving something meaningful for the guests to take home. I have been gifted with some wonderful tokens from couples, but also, ones I would never use. For example, I once received a collection of golf balls from a golf-loving couple, and though meaningful to them, I do not play golf.
I am always asked by my brides if they should give guests a gift to take home. My answer: only if it is something meaningful, and practical. Otherwise, invest that money in something they can enjoy at the event itself, such as more flowers or food.
In today’s blog, I would like you to be the judge.
Do you think we should give up giveaways? What is the most amazing gift you have ever received or given at a wedding?
I think we should go back to the days of taking home a delicious piece of wedding cake. Do you think this is a good idea or too old-fashioned? Be honest.
