Venting: Dream Big
November 15, 2010
We have been taught to believe that most of our fears are realistic, but to dream big is unrealistic. No wonder we put such big limitations on ourselves.
Today’s venting is all about Dreaming Big and allowing ourselves to make those dreams a reality.
I recently saw the movie Hereafter directed by the 80 year old Mr. Clint Eastwood. I was so moved by this film that a new dream was born. Being 61 at the moment, my new dream is to direct a loving, touching, hopeful movie like this one, before I die.
There, I said it.
Even as I write this, I can hear the fearful, nagging voices in my head saying, “You’ve got to be joking, who do you think you are?” Those were the same nagging voices I heard 18 years ago when I contemplated trying to get my first million dollar job (that thank God, with his help, I have managed to accomplish on more than one occasion).
I’d like to share what has helped me bring the most unrealistic dreams into reality:
- First: Have an intention. We are put on this planet to be creative beings. Make your dream as big or small as you like.
- Second: Take action.
A dream without action is just that, a dream.
- Third: Have patience. This is where I have gotten into major trouble in the past. I kept wanting it NOW, instead of when I was really ready.
For the rest of this week, I’d like to share more of what I’ve learned about making dreams a reality.
Today, I’d like us to go on a Journey of Big Dreams. Please share your business dream, however big or small.
Again, if you are having any difficulties bringing your dreams to reality, I’d like to help by answering you directly by email with my humble advice. (OMG, I sound like the dream maker. Maybe that should be my next big dream–to become a dream maker…)
