The Glory of Gaultier at The Brooklyn Museum
November 8, 2013
As many of you know, I am a passionate fan of fashion–both the designers themselves and the clothes they design. The idea of taking risks and expressing yourself in a way that allows others to do the same is intriguing and exciting to me.
Imagine my delight when I heard that the Brooklyn Museum was going to pay tribute the genius of Gaultier by highlight nearly 140 of his most iconic designs. Who can forget Madonna in her pointy-brassiers and gold corsets, both of which she wore willingly, outside of her clothing, both a clear sneer at the very reason they were designed in the first place. Today, I would like to highlight a few of the wonderful pieces in the exhibit and encourage all of you in New York City to make the journey out to Brooklyn, it’s a treat and worth the train ride, to be sure.
Who is your favorite risk-taking designer?
