Learning How to Remain Calm when Stress Kicks In
August 8, 2013
This post is for all of my dear brides. Planning your wedding should be one of the most exciting times of your lives, not the most stressful! It’s no secret that amidst amazing love stories, exquisite flowers, seating charts, room diagrams (and let us not forget the beautiful wedding fashions) comes some unwanted (and often unwarranted) drama.
Toss in the fact that all eyes are on you and you’ve got yourself a recipe for stress.
Learning how to remain calm will help you through the storms with ease, but it’s not always easy when you feel pulled into a hundred loud and opinionated directions. Still, you set the tone which means the way you manage your own stress impacts the way others handle theirs.
A few things to keep in mind:
Identify the areas that make you anxious, eager or uneasy and address them with your planner, if you have one, or a trusted friend or family member if you do not.
Ask for help with things that you don’t understand or cannot address alone.
Make a plan or schedule and assess your priorities and then tackle all of the large tasks immediately.
Avoid Procrastination. The more you put it off, the more stress you have the days leading to your wedding.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that you have the ability to choose your response to stress. Make a conscious decision to be happy and to move forward in spite of it. Focus your energy on the things that are important to you and stay true to the things that truly matter. Whatever you do, believe in yourself and develop a strong support system.
Weddings are a huge milestone in our lives, but what is at the core of this amazing celebration is your love for your significant other, your family, and the notion that you will spend the rest of your life with the person that you love the most. So when faced with tough decisions stay true to yourself and remember the excitement in your eyes and how fast your heart beated the moment he said: “Will you marry me”.
What are some ways you have found to help brides manage stress? How do you deal with stress (negatively or positively)?
With a Happy Heart,
