Kathy’s Blog: Make 2016 A Year Where Anything Is Possible!
December 10, 2015
As 2016 waves to us from around the corner, many of us are thinking about next steps. One thing I have learned throughout my career is that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are in your career, we all have days when we worry that we cannot achieve our greatest goals, have taken on too much or don’t have what it takes to overcome the challenges in front of us. This is when clear thinking and the ability to self motivate is essential. Today, I would like to share 10 things to keep in mind as you move towards your goals.
Have a vision: It’s not about where you are, but where you want to go. Visualize your end-goal and then believe that all you have to do is do the work and take the steps forward and you’ll get there (because you will!)
Don’t talk yourself out of your own growth. You’ll never know if you could have achieved it if you don’t try. If you don’t, that’s OK, you’ll still walk away having learned a lesson and a little braver. The worst that can happen is that you will need to try again.
Instant gratification is overrated. There is no such thing as a true and lasting “overnight success”. No great thing is created suddenly. Life is a one-day-at-a-time kind of thing.
Show love. Show it to yourself, in your work, to clients, colleagues and the world-at-large.
Just start already! The moment you move is when you will gain momentum!
Impossible is a word, not a fate. You don’t know what is possible without working to achieve it, and the moment you quit could be seconds before you succeed.
Be brave. Whatever you choose to do, have the courage to do it fully.
Honor your word. Want to be trusted? Be trustworthy. Use your words wisely and with integrity and infuse them with meaning by placing synergistic action behind them.
Show appreciation. Not only for your life but for the time and hard work of those around you. Get to know who you share a space with and appreciate who they are as humans; your business will grow because it will become a community.
You choose. At the end of the day, it is your choice how you will be in the moment, what you will and won’t do, accept or tolerate (from others and from yourself). You choose how far you will go; don’t hand over that power.
