HealthCare Chaplaincy’s 50th Anniversary Gala

Last night was the HealthCare Chaplaincy’s 50th Anniversary Gala, and my team and I were honored to do the flowers for this wonderful organization and annual event. This year’s Wholeness of Life honorees were Daniel Tishman, Shelley and Donald Rubin and Angela Lansbury.

I’ve had the great pleasure of working with the HealthCare Chaplaincy for almost twenty years now, and the work they do is very close to my heart.

They are advocates for palliative care, which is specialized medical care provided by doctors and nurses for people with serious illnesses. They also provide professional chaplaincy services for thirteen hospitals in New York City. Over the last fifty years, they’ve helped more than five million hospital patients.

I’m especially in awe of The Rev. Dr. Walter J. Smith, HealthCare Chaplaincy’s President and CEO. Father Smith specializes in end-of-life care and has published numerous articles and two books in this field. His tireless work for the sick is incredibly inspiring. He never stops! When HealthCare Chaplaincy asked me to design the floral arrangements and tall centerpieces for last night’s gala, I knew I wanted to create a warm and inviting mood to welcome all of their wonderful employees, volunteers and supporters. I found myself especially inspired by the colors and harvest of autumn.

Here’s a peek at what I came up with:
