Being Easy on Yourself
March 24, 2014
I woke up this morning with 100 different things going on in my head. There were concerns that it may rain on a job that I am doing this weekend, worries about the job with a design that does not seem to be coming to life in the way I had hoped it would have by now, the concern that I am not good enough for the show I am working on well enough… The worries beget more worries, so much so that I considered not getting out of bed.
Finally, I managed to motivate myself and decided to spend a few moments writing in my journal. The moment I put pen to paper, I realized that I was being bullied by fear and decided that the thing I needed to do most was to simply be a bit easier on myself.
The truth of the matter is that fear can stop you in your tracks. Think about it; how many times have you been paralyzed by things you have absolutely no control over? I decided to take a different approach. Instead of being bombarded by things I could not control, I decided to count my blessings. I decided to focus on my gratitude for the job that I am installing, one that I personally think showcases a great design, regardless of the weather. I am grateful that I have a job to design, and even if I am stuck for a moment, the possibilities remain endless. And if I am bad on TV, well, who cares? It won’t be the end of the world.
I began to feel much lighter the more I decided to let go and let God take over.
At times, our need to control everything in our lives can keep us in a place of worry and fear thus making it impossible to move ahead. In today’s blog, I would like to encourage all of you to go a bit easier on yourselves and extract two blessings from fears that currently keep you frozen.
