NEXT week, Rizzoli will release “Preston Bailey Celebrations: Lush Flowers, Opulent Tables, Dramatic Spaces and Other Inspirations for Entertaining,” a visual feast of extravagant events and the fourth book for Mr. Bailey, a celebrity event designer.
Mr. Bailey, who has planned countless weddings and parties for clients like Oprah Winfrey and Liza Minnelli, just finished a joint birthday party for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas last weekend (“He turned 65, she turned 40,” he said. “Don’t you just love it!”), and is preparing for the wedding of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
The starting price for one of his functions is “a lot,” he said — seating for 1,000 and elaborate flower arrangements are routine. But when it comes to entertaining at home, something he likes to do before the holiday season reaches full throttle, he favors a less expensive, less complicated approach.
